Progression Sports Summer 2011 Internship
Progression Sports are looking for an summer intern to work on several video related projects. The primary role will be video editing many of our short online videos which focus on kitesurfing tricks and basic instructional tips. If the intern shows the necessary skills and aptitude then there may be the opportunity to also get involve with some filming, as well editing longer more detailed instructional videos.
The intern will also get involved in some related marketing tasks, including the distribution of video content online, online market/customer research, and contributing to other online content such as blogs and social media updates.
Period: Summer internship running over June, July and August (Intern support for some or all of this period)
Hours: We operate normal office hours 9am – 5.30pm. Position is full time but willing to consider flexible or part time hours
Location: The internship is based in our Brighton office, located in the North Laines
Payment: The intern will be given a token amount to cover lunch & travel every day
Required skills
- Experience with Final Cut Pro or a comparable program (Premiere Pro, Vegas or Avid)
- Experience with, or interest in, filming video content (any type of camera!)
- To participate in, or at least a strong interest in, the kitesurfing sport
- Awareness and understanding of digital and social media, in particular video based online channels such as You Tube.
This is an unpaid positions but the select candidate will get invaluable experience working for an international kitesurfing brand, creating content that will be seen by 10 of thousands of viewers worldwide. You will get the opportunity to work alongside a small team, gaining experience in all aspects of the business from sales, marketing and production. Progression Sports share our office with our sister company Fat Sand Productions, who focus on general video production for commerical companies, so you will also be able to pull production experience from our 2 in house FCP & After Effect editors & cameramen.
In 2009 James Boulding started a 2 week work experience placement with us. He has now gone on to film and edit videos for Naish Kiteboarding, Aaron Hadlow & Liquid Force Kiteboarding. In a recent interview in a leading industry magazine James said “Fat Sand really helped show me the professional aspect of it (video production) and how to work with clients and produce media that was crisp and effective. I think that was the catalyst that pushed me into doing a much better job of things”
